Sometimes, I’m not always able to take a drive and look for birds and animals to photograph. But, that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Some of the best photos I’ve taken lately have been right in my front yard. There are so many beautiful spring birds out right now and I’m having a great time at home looking for them.

Orioles are really interesting to me because the males, females, and juveniles look so very different from each other. The biggest difference being the Orchard Oriole. The adult male is such a beautiful dark burnt orange and black color, while the juvenile is a neon yellow, with a sort of green tint to it. The female is also the same neon yellow green color, but she lacks the black masking that the male has, giving her a cute softer appearance.

The Yellow Warblers have been really loving this tree in my neighbors front yard. I see anywhere from two to three almost every day. I have also seen a few other warbler species pop in as well. The yellow is so pretty against the bright green leaves of the tree. And speaking of bright, I have a returning male Indigo Bunting and I absolutely adore seeing him.

I’ve had a lot of Rose-breasted Grosbeak activity this year. I normally don’t see many around so this is a very welcome change. While the females are definitely more drab, the male is so pretty with that rose color chest. Chestnut-sided Warbler is a new species for me this year, and just check out those colors. I’m always a huge fan of rusty burnt orange plumage and this little guy is no exception, even more so with that pop of yellow.
