Earlier this summer, I decided to purchase a trail cam. I just wanted to have a little fun and experiment what might show up. I don’t put out a lot of food as I don’t want to attract a lot of pests, but I’ve had some success in attracting a small assortment of animals. Things started out slow with squirrels and rabbits being the most common.

But then some other visitors started to come as well. I’m not super fond of the idea of having stray cats hanging around in my yard, so I try to be mindful of the type of food scraps I leave out to attract other animals.

I was kind of expecting to have more birds drop down and check out the area, as most often I just leave bird food and corn out, but that activity has been very minimal. I’m hoping maybe the winter time might bring some more birds down to check things out.

My favorite and most recent visitor has been a possum ! I’ve been wanting so badly to see one, and finally had some luck. This big guy definitely likes to eat, and he will stay and devour everything that’s lets behind. And finally I managed to barely catch what I believe to be a Meadow Vole, but it didn’t stick around or give very good views.

All in all, I’ve had a ton of fun having the trail cam set up, and I’m waiting impatiently for a skunk or a raccoon to show up! I probably won’t post about this super often but it’s definitely been neat to check out while most of the wildlife and birds have been hard to find and photograph.
